  • Awkward Mother’s Day: A Dual Review of Form 2 by Carnivalesq
    • If you all remember, Mom helped out with a brief comment about LELO’s Liv. The reason I wanted her in on the Form 2 review is… well, there are so many reasons. One? It’s catchy. A dual review of the Form 2, which is itself a dual-motor vibrator? It’s got a nice ring to it. Also, Mother’s Day is coming up (HINT!). But the real reason? I know there are a number of readers who are older than I am, who are probably closer to my Mom’s age.

Review: Pleasure Me Purse Kit

I adore a nice massage. Seriously, if the masseuse is any good, I completely melt away with bliss and relaxation. I like getting massages. I like giving massages. Massages are just a wonderful part of life.

So when Good Vibrations offered me a chance to review the Pleasure Me Purse Kit, I was more than game. I'd never tried a massage bar before; to be honest, I wasn't really sure what a massage bar was. I was skeptical of some of the rest of the kit, but I love trying samples. And Creme Brulee sounds like such a wonderful flavor. For anything.

Review: Bubbles

Ever since I first saw the new Fun Factory Click 'N' Charge vibrators announced, my inner geek has been itchy to get her hands on one.

Thankful

I bitch and moan about my health and medications a lot. Seriously, way too much. I've been thinking recently, though, about all this. Really, I have a lot to be thankful for.

My current birth control method, Nuvaring, may be having issues with breakthrough bleeding, but you know what? I'm thankful that I'm not getting moodswings, that I've got a sex drive again, that I'm actually making my own lubricant again. I'm thankful that I don't have to take a pill every day at the same time, lest I get preggers or get hit by spotting or breakthrough bleeding. I'm thankful that, on my current insurance, the Nuvaring is cheaper than the stuff I was on before. I'm thankful that it works for me.

I'm thankful to be off the daily regimen of prescription strength pain killers. I'm thankful to be living with a 2/10 on the pain scale, instead of living with a 5/10 after the meds kick in. I'm thankful for doctors that kept looking for underlying causes to my pain, and have finally found one (of a few; we're still working on the rest). I'm thankful for doctors who trust my judgment. I'm thankful for doctors who don't pull punches and sugar-coat things, because I want - no, need - to know what's going on with my body. I'm thankful for my doctors who have worked so hard to bring my quality of living so much closer to that of a normal 22 year old.

And I'm thankful for you, my readers, for listening to me. I may rant a lot, but that's not all I am. I just tend to rant here more than elsewhere because it's safe to rant here. The people in my life don't want to hear about it any more, because it makes them feel guilty about not being able to fix it. I'm just unlucky in having a family where guilt translates into anger against the source of guilt. But I'm thankful for my family, and all they've done through the years, helping me through one medical issue after another.

I've realize that, no matter how crappy things may seem, there's a lot for me to be thankful for, and I do appreciate it. I'm probably not going to stop griping about my meds and health any time soon, because it makes me feel better, but I will remember that it's not all bad, really.

Unexpected Benefit of Nuvaring

So far, the Nuvaring and I have been getting along pretty well. I've had no crazy mood swings, no depression, no crazy weight gain (that can't be explained by the just under 1000mg of prednisone I've been given in the last month), no expensive explosion in boob size (new bras? expensive as shit when you're a small girl with big tits), minimal bloating and boob tenderness... basically, we're doing pretty well. I have yet to experience a full-fledged "period" on the Nuvaring, so we shall see how that goes. (I skipped one intentionally. The next one I tried to shorten by leaving a 4 day gap instead of the full week... no dice. I got nada.)

I am, however, having breakthrough bleeding. Which totally sucks hardcore. It's starting to look like it's just going to continue until the time comes to fish the little bugger out for the week off withdrawal bleed. (Yes, I know the phrasing's awkward. But it's accurate.)

(I've noticed I'm using parentheses a lot today. I wonder why? Maybe it's because my mind is flitting in a hundred directions, and I wanted to show a few of them to you. Whatever, back to your regularly scheduled blog post.)

Today I discovered an absolutely wonderful plus side of the Nuvaring, though. When you get a horrid stomach bug and can't keep food down, you don't have to worry about taking a pill that's never going to make it into your system. The Nuvaring, sneeky little ninja that it is, completely bypasses the gastrointestinal tract. By being in your vagina. So you don't have to worry about getting spotting or breakthrough bleeding or anything when you get sick.

Because that? Would totally suck.
