Review: Fly Micro Vibrator

When Babeland sent it to me, Fun Factory's Fly Micro Vibrator was a pleasant surprise. Vibrators designed as beginner toys have a bad reputation for being cheap pieces of junk foisted off on those too new to sex toys to know better. The Fly Micro is a refreshing exception.

The Fly Micro is a compact bullet with sleeve, perfect for tossing in a purse or overnight bag. The bullet is your basic wireless push-button bullet. The sleeve is premium silicone, easy to clean and body friendly. It has a lovely drag when pulled across the skin, and the raised butterflies give it just enough texture without being so much as to irritate.

The bullet slips out of the sleeve with a gentle tug. No wrestling and pulling out the pliers for this one! Once the bullet is out, the sleeve can be sanitized by boiling for a few minutes or rinsing with a 10% bleach solution. For day to day maintenance, can be cleaned with your preferred cleaning method, from toy cleaner sprays to a trip through the dishwasher, top rack no soap. The bullet, which is splashproof, can be cleaned with any of the above (aside from boiling and dishwasher).

Now, on to the interesting part. Does it work? All sorts of nice features, like sterilize-able silicone and waterproof bullets, mean nothing if it doesn't work well as a toy. Thankfully, the Fly Micro delivers. The bullet is strong for something that runs on watch batteries. It's much less buzzy than many wireless bullets. Those who find the surface vibrations of many bullets unsatisfying may have more luck with the Fly Micro.

The vibrations transmit well through the silicone. It makes a fun clitoral stimulator for those who don't need earth-shattering power. When the bullet is firmly in the sleeve, the vibrations are centered in the dense bulb of the sleeve. You're not going to get pinpoint stimulation from the Fly Micro, but the more diffuse vibrations make a great warmup or a slow, luxurious session of self-loving. While not long enough for full, filling penetration, the gently swelling shape is nice for shallow penetration and teasing.

So does it work? Yes, yes it does. I usually need pretty strong vibrations to get off, but this toy was a surprise, with orgasms that snuck up on me when I wasn't expecting them. It may never be my favorite toy, but it's one of the best beginner vibrators I've tried. And for under $30, it's a great value.
